Article on Examiner.com about 2010 NC Democratic Party Convention in Fayetteville

At least 700 other Democrats from 73 counties across NC gathered in the Holiday Inn Bordeaux ballroom, where they approved their party’s platform, passed 62 resolutions, and heard from Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx.

Foxx discussed plans for the party’s Coordinated Campaign and commented on the prospects for landing the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte in 2012.

The Coordinated Campaign's leaders include 2010 US Senate Candidate Cal Cunningham of Lexington and Nina Szlosberg of Raleigh. Szlosberg is Chairman of the Conservation Council of NC and a public member of NC’s Board of Transportation.

Foxx challenged delegates to the Convention “to elect our candidates in 2010 to show the DNC we’re competitive—that’s the best way to bring the 2012 convention to Charlotte.

Cal Cunningham said he was present to emphasize the party’s unity and to give the delegates a message: We need to tell the voters that this is about driver’s ed. “ To go forward put it in ‘D.’ To go backward put it in ‘R.’
